The Ancient House made of teak wood without any nails at Ban Thale is the oldest house on the island built approximately 150 years ago.
Some of the other famous places to visit are the Namuang Waterfall located 10 km from Nathon at Ban Thurian is about 80 meters high and can only be reached be a 30 minute walk and they are the most secnic on the island. The Sawadee Shrine being a central image for reverence and faith. The Hin Lad Waterfall located 2 km south of Nathon Town can be reached by a 3-4 kilometer walk down a country foot walk and the Scuba Diving located around Samui, offering a wide range of dive facilities and there are also tours available for snorkeling, fishing and excursions.
Food is fabulous in the city, seafood is well known, restaurants around the island offer Thai- European food and other specialities and large range of tropical fruits and fresh coconut is also available. Nightlife in the city is Bars and cabarets shows located mainly in the Chaweng and Lamai, Green Mango, Raggae Pub, Full Circle and Bauhaus are the main discotheques of which some are open until sunrise.
