Munich the southern city located near the Alps is the capital city of Bavaria and one of Germany’s biggest cities. The 800 year old city is home of the world famous Oktoberfest-starts in late October. Schloss Nymphenburg – the Wittelbachs used to spend their summer in the country house, which is more sophisticated palace than the Residenz. The construction of the palace began in 1664 and took more than 150 years to complete was started by Elector Ferdinand Maria in the Italian-villa style. In 1702 the palace was enlarged by adding four large pavilions and this final phase was created mainly by Elector Max Emanuel.
Residenz – the favorite place or residence of the Bavarian royals and especially Ludwig II is an enormous palace and its history is as long as that of the Wittelsbach family. The Residenz was the official residence of the rulers of Bavaria from the 1385 to 1918 and the palace was rebuilt over the centuries.
Judisches Museum Munchen – the small private museum displays the history of Jews in Nazi Germany with collection of photographs, letters and exhibits. The collections exhibit the suffering through powerful portraits of daily life.
Staatliches Museum fur Volkerkunde – the museum is housed in an imposing building completed in 1865 includes collection of art and artifacts. The museum has collections from world over and one of the principle museums of its kind in Europe.
