About Malaga

Malaga located in the southern part of Spain, at the Mediterranean sea coast. One of the eight regional capitals of Andalusia and the biggest coastal city in the south, known in Spanish as ‘Costa del Sol’ the Sunny Coast. Malaga is also closely located to Sevilla and Granada cities.

Malaga Attractions

Gibralfaro : the Gibralfaro Castle is situated next to La Alcazaba, which is connected to by ducts from two of its towers. Actually the original site where the Gibralfaro lies is thought to have hosted a lighthouse built by the Phoenicians. On the remains a fortress was built. By Abderraman III and was later constructed as a castle by Yasuf I in the 14 th century.

Roman Theater :

located below La Alcazaba and was not discovered until 1951 despite its size and height. The archaeological survey has revealed that it has been in use since the 3 rd century and that the Moors used elements from the Theater in the construction of La Alcazaba.

The La Alcazaba :

is a military fortress built by the Moors in the 11 th century at the remains of a Roman fortress. Located on the fortress it consists of three protecting wall, more than 100 towers and a superior part with a residential area with three palaces.

Picasso Home (Museum) :

the home of Pablo Ruiz Picasso in the early part of his life, where he was born in 1881. His works made him the most famous native of Malaga.

The Cathedral :

after conquering Malaga from the Moors in 1528 the construction of the Cathedral began on top of a former Mosque, destroyed when the Moors lost the town. The construction took almost two centuries and finished in 1782 with fundamental Gothic style architecture.

Sagrario Church :

the church is situated between the palace Episcopal and the Cathedral, on the ruins of the major Arab mosque in the 15 th century in a Gothic style.

Santiago Church :

is situated in Calle Granada was constructed in the 16 th century in a mixture of Gothic and Mudejar (Arab) style.

Palace Marques de Valdeflores :

the palace was built in the 18 th century as an exhibition hall for the Malaguenous and later acquired by a noble in the 1895 for personal premises.
