The entrance to the museum is from the interior of the Basilica. The exhibits also include the Cross of the Emperor Justin II of 6 th century, monument to Pope Sixtus IV by Pollaiolo and the Sarcophagus of Giunio Basso.

The Vatican Grottoes : it is located below the Basilica, which forms an interesting monumental complex with 2,000 years of historical and Christian memories. The museum includes exhibits like remains of the 4 th century church, tombs of various Popes and the Queen Christine of Sweden and early Christian sarcophagi.

The Vatican Necropoli : the necropolis is situated below the Grottoes and basilica spreads a pagan necropolis with Christine tombs. Special permission should be requested to the ‘Ufficio Scavi Della Rev.da Fabbrica di S.Pietro’, Arco delle Campane.

Museo Gregoriano-Egizio : the museum includes collections from excavations in ancient Egypt. The museum displays are mummies, sculptors, sarcophagi, Roman statues with mix of Egyptian art, stelae, metals like bronze and documents on Mesopotamia, Assyria and Palestine.

Museo Gregoriano-Etrusco : the museum includes exhibits from Greek and Roman ancient civilization was founded by Gregory XVI in 1837. The displays in the museum are items from Southern Etruria and archaeological material like sarcophagi, some remains from burial chamber, bronze items, urns, architectural terracottas, different shapes of vases, Roman glassware, Roman and Etruscan objects and beautiful fragments from the Parthenon from Greece.

Pinacoteca : the gallery includes collections of paintings mainly by Italian masters was started in late 17 th century by Pope Pius V. The museum mainly concentrates on renaissance, baroque and 10 remarkable tapestries, which were manufactured in Brussels in early 15 th century from Raphael’s designs.
