Greece

Olympia
Ancient Olympia – with the sanctuary of Zeus, resonates with history as the site of the ancient Olympic games. At the foot of the tree covered Kronion hill set in a valley near two rivers is the most popular sites of Greece. Modern Olympia pales beside its earlier namesake: the village is a one Street town (Praxitelous kondilis).
Archaeological Museum at Olympia – has collections of sculptures from the Temple of Zeus and the Hermes of Praxiteles, discovered in the temple of Hera in the place noted by Pausanias. The central gallery of the museum holds one of the greatest sculptural achievements of classical antiquity. The Hermes was buried under the fallen clay of the temples upper walls and is one of the best-preserved classical statues.
The Museum of Olympic Games – the museum includes collections medals, commemorative stamps and photos of winning athletes such as former King Constantine of Greece and the great African-American athlete Jesse Owens. The museum also includes a photo and bust of the founder of the modern Olympics, Baron de Coubertine.
