Travel guide to Alicante

About Alicante
The city of Alicante serves as the capital of the Spanish province of Alicante in the southern part of the Valencian Community. It carries a high degree of historical significance, due to its being a Mediterranean port for many centuries. One of the most quickly flourishing cities in Spain , Alicante 's economy is largely dependent on tourism.
Alicante features an international airport, and regular ferry routes which can be accessed from the city's wide harbor area. One of the most recognizable aspects of this city is the Castle of Santa Bárbara , which towers above the rest of Alicante . Alicante has been home to one of Europe 's largest film studios, Ciudad de la Luz Ciudad de la Luz, since 2005.
The Bonfires of Saint John, considered by far to be the most exiting festival of Alicante, takes place during the summer solstice, followed by seven nights of extravagant fireworks and pyrotechnic contests between various companies on the urban beach of Playa del Postiguet, which are held a week later after the festival. The city has a vibrant nightlife all round the year, and even the Playa de San Juan ( St. John's Beach ) becomes a party place during summer.
All in all, Alicante is one of Spain 's most remarkable cities, and a wonderful place to visit.
